Irving residents should expect delays in curbside brush and bulk collection throughout May.
The city said it is experiencing a “very high level of demand” after severe winter weather in February killed trees, brush and other landscape.
Numerous properties were also damaged, requiring property owners to make unplanned improvements and place more bulk items curbside than usual, the city said on its website, adding that spring and summer are already the busiest times for collection.
Additionally, several trucks in the city’s Solid Waste Services are out of service for repairs, the city said, leaving the department with fewer collection resources.
If residents do not want to wait, they can drop off brush and bulk waste at the Hunter Ferrell Landfill, 110 E. Hunter Ferrell Road. The landfill is open 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. People must show proof they live in Irving to drop items off.
