The $750,000 grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission will supplement existing bond funds that voters approved in the 2019 bond election to renovate, construct and improve parks and recreational facilities in Garland, according to a news release.

The grants, which are allocated to local governments, appropriate state and federal funding dedicated for the acquisition and development of public recreation areas and facilities in Texas, according to the release. The release also said that all grant-assisted sites must be dedicated as parkland, properly maintained and open to the public.
