How to nominate your neighborhood as one of Plano’s best

Applications are now being accepted and must be completed by Oct. 5.

The city of Plano is now taking applications for its annual BEST Neighborhoods Designation program.

Applicants for the program include resident groups that are working to make Plano a place where people want to live, work and play, the city announced.

The application has 20 qualification questions, five narrative questions, and a presentation. Narrative responses can be made either virtually or in-person.

Questions about safety and a description of the neighborhood and what makes it beautiful are among the questions on the application. Supplemental materials that support the application — photos, newsletters, emails, and screenshots — should also be included.

BEST Neighborhoods awards will be awarded in silver, gold and platinum categories

Award winners will receive a mention of their designation on the city’s website, an image file of their designation for use on websites or newsletters, for example; and, the release said, “bragging rights.”
