Plano has been named the 17th best place to live on a list of 100 cities in America, according to the website Livability.com.
While Plano was the only Texas city to crack the top 20 on the list, McKinney came in at No. 60, while Richardson was ranked No. 66.
With a population of 300,000 people, a median income of $92,000 and a wide array of cultural activities, Plano is described as having “everything you need in one city,” according to the website, which ranks cities in monthly top 10 lists and annual rankings.
The best place to live in America list was made by ranking more than 2,300 cities with populations between 20,000 and 1,000,000. Data sources included U.S. government entities as well as private-sector researchers. The rankings were based on more than 50 data points grouped into nine categories:
- Amenities
- Remote-Readiness
- Economy
- Demographics
- Housing
- Social and civic capital
- Education
- Health care
- Transportation and infrastructure
Rankings were based on factors that appeals to those interested parties looking to relocate. Civics, demographics and remote-ready environments that allow residents to work from wherever when needing a break from the office is one of many attractions that makes Plano appealing, the website reported.
The report listed top reasons anyone would want to live in Plano, such as the Crayola Experience, industries such as Pizza Hut which employs more than 300,000 people, and startup opportunities. The Shops at Legacy and Legacy West and the Downtown Plano Arts District are some of the amenities that also make Plano more livable.
