Frisco man sentenced to 65 years for stalking, kidnapping, sexually assaulting woman

Prosecutors say 29-year-old Derick Tobar-Gonzalez’s assault of a former girlfriend left her permanently disabled.

A 29-year-old Frisco man was sentenced to 65 years in prison for stalking, kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman, the Collin County district attorney’s office announced Tuesday.

Derick Tobar-Gonzalez pleaded guilty for aggravated sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping, and aggravated sexual assault causing serious bodily injury involving family violence.

“Too often, domestic violence does not end when the relationship ends and a victim thinks she has escaped her abuser,” Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said after the sentencing. “This case shows our dedication to prosecuting violent perpetrators who attempt to maintain control over their former victims.”
