Case of a missing Grapevine man is the subject of a new true crime podcast

James Foster Chance disappeared in February during the extreme winter weather event. Now, he’s the subject of a recent episode of ‘The Vanished’ podcast.

Where is James Foster Chance?

The Grapevine man disappeared in February, at the same time North Texas endured record low temperatures, snow and ice.

His neighbors last saw him cleaning up water damage from the storm, and his car was found abandoned hundreds of miles away at the Arkansas Welcome Center on Interstate 30, just northeast of Texarkana in March.

In May, Grapevine Police told CBS 11 (KTVT-TV) that no signs of foul play were evident, but they were looking for new leads about his whereabouts.

Now, a new episode of the true-crime podcast, “The Vanished”, is dedicated to the disappearance of the 48-year-old, who stands 6 foot, 1 inch tall, weighs 175 pounds, has red hair and blue/green eyes.

Grapevine Police did not immediately return a request for comment on the case or the podcast.

The podcast traces Chance’s disappearance, and asks the question: How much can you ever really know someone?

“James’ family was alerted by his landlord that something was amiss. That was when they began piecing together his last movements,” according to a synopsis from the episode. “What they discovered left them with more questions than answers.

“James’ family began searching for him. But in their search, they began uncovering clues that James was not the man they thought he was. And worse — that he may have disappeared on purpose,” according to the podcast notes.

Chance is entered as a missing person in national databases, and detectives are in contact with the family, CBS 11 reported.

Anyone who has information on Chance’s whereabouts is urged by the Grapevine Police to contact them by 817-470-8127 or email.
