Fort Worth police offer free active shooter training to teachers

Training comes two months after a school shooting in Uvalde left 19 children and two teachers dead.

Fort Worth police will offer free active shooter training to all Fort Worth ISD teachers and campus-based staff.

Training will focus on how civilians should respond to a shooter, what steps to take to survive, and how to stop severe bleeding by using tourniquets, packing a wound or applying direct pressure. Both classroom instruction and scenario-based training will be included.

“We are pleased to continue our work with the Fort Worth Police Department as we look to take advantage of every resource in protecting our students and employees,” Deputy Superintendent Karen Molinar said in a prepared statement.
