Design work is expected to begin soon for a major renovation project at the Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center in Plano.
The design phase of the project is expected to begin sometime in January or February, according to the city.
The work will be funded through a 2021 bond referendum approved by voters.
Under the project, the Muehlenbeck Recreation Center will receive:
- General building maintenance
- HVAC and roof replacement
- Irrigation system update
- Sidewalk and landscaping improvements
- Updated parking lot lighting
Other work will include new flooring, paint, cabinetry, track resurfacing, gym floor refinishes, new shade structures, and pool play and slide features.
The facility’s closure to allow for the completion of the work has not yet been determined.
