Election packets available for Richardson City Council race

Packets may be picked up in person or requested electronically.

Election packets are now available for prospective candidates seeking a seat on the Richardson City Council.

Seats for council places 1 through 6 and Richardson mayor will be on the ballot for the May 5 election.

Richardson holds a City Council election every two years.

The first day to file an application for a place on the 2023 ballot is Jan. 18, and the last day is Feb. 17 by 5 p.m.

The packets may be picked up in person during regular business hours at the Richardson IQ® HQ, 1301 E. Collins Boulevard.

An electronic packet may be requested via e-mail to city secretary Aimee Nemer.

Candidates are encouraged to schedule an appointment with Nemer to review the packet and election procedures, the city stated in an announcement.

General qualifications are:

  • Council Place 1 candidate must live in District 1.
  • Council Place 2 candidate must live in District 2.
  • Council Place 3 candidate must live in District 3.
  • Council Place 4 candidate must live in District 4.
  • Council Place 5 is at large.
  • Council Place 6 is at large.
  • Mayor (Place 7) is at large.

Qualified candidates must be:

  • A U.S. citizen.
  • Registered voter on the date of the election.
  • City of Richardson resident for at least one year prior to the election date.
  • At least 21 years of age.
