A multivehicle crash killed four people and shut down Interstate 45 in southeast Oak Cliff for several hours.

Dallas Fire-Rescue responded to the crash just before 1 p.m. Saturday, a fire department spokesperson said in an email.

A Dallas police spokesperson said a preliminary investigation determined a vehicle traveling north on I-45 collided with a second vehicle, which caused the first vehicle to cross the median into southbound traffic. The vehicle then struck two vehicles in the southbound lanes before crashing into the guardrail and flipping over.
