Crews on Sunday recovered the body of a 6-year-old boy who was swept away after he fell into a creek near Mountain Creek Lake on Saturday afternoon, police say.
The child’s body was found around 2 p.m. near Mi Familia Park, located at 2402 Cardiff Street in Grand Prairie, according to a Dallas Fire-Rescue Department spokesperson.
Searchers located the boy the day after they pulled the body of his father, identified as 26-year-old Fernando Carlos, from the water.

Dallas Fire-Rescue crews responded at about 1:40 p.m. Saturday after a 911 caller reported a boy was swept into the water near the 2700 block of Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesperson Jason Evans said in a Saturday afternoon news release.
The boy and his father were fishing at the creek at the time. The boy’s father jumped into the water to attempt a rescue, but neither resurfaced, Evans said.
Responders from three agencies — Dallas Fire-Rescue, the Dallas Police Department and game wardens with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department — began a search for the father and son, said Evans and Jennifer Pryor, a Dallas police spokesperson.
The body of the father was recovered around 5 p.m.
The renovations to the historic theater are part of a larger vision for the area.
A passenger, 17-year-old Miguel Sosa, faces a charge of evading arrest or detention.
A day after the chase, police named the passenger as 17-year-old Miguel Sosa, but have not yet confirmed the driver’s identity.
