Man dead, child still missing after two were swept into creek near Mountain Creek Lake

Reports indicate child was swept into the creek while his father jumped in to save him before being swept away himself.

A man died and his child is missing after being swept into a creek near Mountain Creek Lake.

Jason Evans, DFR spokesperson, said crews were called at about 1:40 p.m. Saturday after a 911 call reported someone was swept into the water near the 4500 block of Mountain Creek Parkway, Evans said.

Evans said reports indicate a child was swept into the creek while fishing, and the child’s father jumped into the creek to save them before being swept away himself.

At about 5 p.m., Evans said officials located the body of an adult male. Evans said the Dallas County medical examiner will release the individual’s identity and determine a cause of death.

Efforts to find the child were called off at about 7 p.m. due to poor light conditions, Evans said.

DFR, Dallas police and game wardens conducted the search, Evans said.
