Updated at 7 p.m.: Revised to include the victim's manner of death.
A man whose body was found early Monday at his burning Buckner Terrace duplex was killed before the fire started, police said.
Dallas Fire-Rescue was called about midnight to the duplex in the 4900 block of Berridge Lane, near Skyline High School.
The man, who was in his 40s, was found dead after the fire was extinguished, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesman Jason Evans said.
Police said he died of homicidal violence, but his cause of death and identity have not been released.
A neighbor saw the fire and told four people on the other side of the duplex about it. The residents escaped without injury. The American Red Cross was helping address their needs, Evans said.
