Southlake police searching for 2 people who went on $18,000 spending spree with woman's stolen credit cards

The suspects reportedly lifted a wallet from a woman's purse, then binged on gift cards from the Apple Store, Nordstrom Rack and Best Buy, police said.

Southlake police are looking for a man and a woman suspected of stealing another woman's wallet and using her credit cards to go on a 45-minute buying spree worth about $18,000.

The wallet was taken May 22 at a Home Goods store in the 200 block of North Kimball Avenue when a young man and woman "walked past our sweet older victim, allegedly reached into her purse when she wasn't looking and stole her black Chanel wallet," Southlake DPS wrote on Twitter.

The two then fled in a vehicle, Southlake DPS wrote, and went to an Apple store where they purchased $6,000 in gift cards.

"Ten minutes later they bought $4,000 more gift cards at Nordstrom Rack and completed their heist with a final $8,000 worth of gift cards at Best Buy," Southlake DPS continued on Twitter.

Surveillance images show a man wearing a gray long-sleeve shirt, dark pants and a baseball cap.

"He might even have a thin little stache and he's not wearing any socks with his shoes," Southlake DPS said in a continuing Twitter thread. "Like he just put his bare feet in shoes."

Police estimated he was in his 20s and about 6 feet tall.
