A DeSoto officer returned fire and struck Bailey, who was taken to a hospital.

Bailey remained at the hospital Sunday afternoon. He was remotely booked in to the Dallas County Jail on charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and family-violence assault, according to online jail records.

While DeSoto police investigate the suspect's role in the domestic disturbance and shooting, the Dallas County Sheriff's Department and the district attorney's public integrity unit are conducting independent investigations into the shots fired by officers, sheriff's department spokesman Raul Reyna said.
