21-year-old man who shot at officers surrenders to SWAT, Grand Prairie police say

Police said Nathan Isreal, 21, had fired a gun while he was alone inside his girlfriend's home. No injuries were reported.

A 21-year-old man was arrested after firing a gun through a window toward officers Sunday evening, Grand Prairie police say.

Officers were called about 5 p.m. to a report of a person with a weapon at an apartment complex in the 500 block of West Westchester Parkway, near South Carrier Parkway.

Police said Nathan Isreal, 21, had fired a gun while he was alone inside his girlfriend's home. No injuries were reported.

As officers arrived, Isreal fired through a window toward officers, police said.

The officers retreated and called SWAT. After about an hour of negotiations, Isreal surrendered.

He was booked into the Grand Prairie jail and faces a charge of aggravated assault against a peace officer. Additional charges are expected, police said.

Police said there had been rumors on social media that the incident occurred at a nearby movie theater, but said that was not true. No area businesses were affected, police said.
