A Lancaster man killed his ex-girlfriend's new beau at the woman's Dallas home, police say.
Jarell Javonte Beasley, 23, was booked into the Dallas County jail early Monday on one count of murder.
According to an arrest-warrant affidavit, Beasley called his ex just before 4 p.m. Sunday and said that she had ruined his life. The two had broken up in May and had a child together.
The woman told police she got a bad feeling about Beasley's statement and tried to call her new boyfriend, 22-year-old Gerald Lester of Mesquite, who was alone at her southeast Oak Cliff home. When he didn't answer, she asked a friend to check on him.
That friend found Lester dead at the home in the 5700 block of Glen Forest Lane, police said. He had been shot multiple times.
Police were later notified by one of Beasley's relatives that he was at the family's Lancaster home and that they wanted to turn him in, the affidavit says. Police took him into custody at the home.
When police searched the Glen Forest house, they found a number of bloody shoe prints. Those prints matched Beasley's shoes, which had blood on them, police said.
According to the affidavit, the two men were "known to have a conflict with each other" over the woman and police believe Beasley learned that Lester was at her home Sunday.
Beasley refused to speak to detectives and does not have an attorney listed in court records. He remained in custody Tuesday, with bail set at $100,000.
