Police seek vandal linked to graffiti spree at 4 churches in southeast Oak Cliff

Churches were tagged with the word 'liars' and 'scam,' and at Beth-Eden Baptist, the word 'lie' was painted on the steeple.

Dallas police are searching for a man they suspect is involved in a series of church vandalism cases that occurred recently in southeast Oak Cliff.

Police are investigating four criminal-mischief offenses that involved graffiti left at four churches. Security video footage from St. Paul Lutheran Church shows a man in a gray hoodie writing what looks to be the word "liars" in red paint on a pair of church doors.

Similar instances of graffiti were reported at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, not too far to the east of St. Paul, and at St. Phillips Missionary Baptist Church in the same area.

In addition, the word "lie" was painted on the steeple at nearby Beth Eden Baptist Church.

"They may be in pain, they may be hurting," Clarence Preston, pastor of Beth Eden, told KTVT-TV (Channel 11). "We just want and hope that the perpetrator who did this act comes to Christ."

At St. Luke's, the words "all lies," "scam" and "Jesus" with a slash through it were painted on church property, according to KDFW-TV (Channel 4).
