22-year-old charged in fatal shooting during drug deal in west Oak Cliff, Dallas police say

The suspect was arrested Sunday morning in connection with the shooting from last month.

Updated at 2:12 p.m.: Revised to reflect a bail amount for the suspect.

A 22-year-old man has been charged in a fatal shooting that occurred last month during a drug deal in west Oak Cliff, Dallas police say.

Fernando Mancha was arrested Sunday on a murder charge in connection with the Dec. 26 slaying of 21-year-old Patrick Lynn Parks III.

Police said that Mancha “admitted his involvement in this offense” to detectives.

Officers were called about 9 p.m. Dec. 26 to the 3000 block of Falls Drive, where Parks and another person had agreed to meet Mancha for a drug deal, police wrote in an affidavit.

A fight broke out after Parks and the person were ordered to put firearms they were carrying on the ground, and Mancha shot Parks, according to the affidavit.

The people with Mancha and Parks were not named in the affidavit.

Security video captured the shooting. A witness helped identify Mancha as a suspect, and another person provided his Instagram messages to police.

Mancha was booked into jail early Sunday. His bail was set at $500,000.
