A 32-year-old man faces a murder charge after another man was killed during a drug deal Friday at an Allen apartment complex.
Police said the shooting took place just before 1 p.m. at the Gates at Allen Station in the 500 block of East Exchange Parkway, near Allen High School. Officers saw four people fleeing the area and were able to take three of them into custody.
Police believe four people had gone to the apartment to buy drugs, and an altercation ensued before the shooting. The man who was shot, 39-year-old Ryan Kelly of Allen, later died from his injuries.
Of the three people in custody, two were arrested and the third was released.
Richard Anthony Valentine, 32, was arrested on a charge of murder. Leroy Alvin Walls, 22, faces a marijuana possession charge.
Police are still working to determine the identity of the fourth person who fled the scene. Anyone with information is asked to call Investigator Michael Canon at 214-509-4244.
