Plano police are searching for the driver and a passenger involved in a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian.

The crash happened Saturday around 7:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of 14th Street near Rigsbee Drive, according to Plano police.

A man stepped off the sidewalk and onto the street to go around a vehicle that stopped while backing out of a driveway, police said Friday. As the pedestrian walked on the street, he was struck by a passing vehicle.

Police said the driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian stopped, and a passenger stepped out and left on foot. The driver then drove away in the vehicle without checking on the pedestrian, according to police.

The pedestrian was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police have not identified the victim.

Police said the suspect vehicle was described as a dark-color SUV. The passenger who left on foot was a man, but police have no description of the driver.
