Garland police responded to a shooting call near the intersection of Saturn and Kingsley roads about 7:45 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found Noah Christopher Hansen in a vehicle near a convenience store, suffering from a gunshot wound. Hansen was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Juan Daniel Yepez, 25, was arrested Thursday in connection with the slaying, police said.

Detectives learned that Yepez, Hansen and two women were inside a vehicle together. Police said they believe there was an argument over drugs when Yepez shot Hansen.

Yepez fled after the shooting, but detectives found him in the 3000 block of Lamesa Drive. The rifle used was also located, police said.

While Yepez was being arrested, he became combative and attempted to take an officer’s gun, police said. He currently faces a murder charge and a charge of attempting to take a weapon from a police officer.

No bail has been set.
