2 Dallas officers hospitalized after crash with pickup in northwest Dallas; driver arrested

The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. Saturday at Webb Chapel Extension and Northwest Highway.

Two Dallas police officers en route to help a fellow officer on a shooting call overnight have been hospitalized after a pickup turned into their path in northwest Dallas, causing a collision.

The crash happened about 12:30 a.m. Saturday in the 2700 block of Webb Chapel Extension at Northwest Highway, just north of Bachman Lake, where the officers were headed northbound in their squad car.

As their car, with its sirens on and lights flashing, entered the intersection at West Northwest Highway, a southbound Chevy Silverado turned left into its path.

Both officers were hospitalized in stable condition. Images from the scene showed the mangled squad car straddling a curb near a utility pole, with the damaged pickup behind it in the intersection.

The driver of the Silverado suffered minor injuries and was arrested on suspicion of intoxication assault on a peace officer.
