Updated at 11:06 a.m. on Feb. 28 with arrest information from police.
Three teens and one of their mothers were arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy last month in Mesquite that police say happened during an attempted robbery.
Johnathan Pyle, 19, of Dallas; Simon Guillen, 18, of Wilmer; his mother, Crystal Guillen, 34, of Wilmer; and a 15-year-old each face a capital murder charge in the death of the teen, Mesquite police said Monday.

Mesquite police were called about 7 p.m. on Jan. 22 to the 2800 block of Clay Mathis Road, where they found the 16-year-old — identified by family as Key’Mydre Palmer Anderson — lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Police said Monday that the shooting was the result of a failed robbery involving the sale of a firearm. Police were initially responding to reports of a motor vehicle accident, and a witness told police a person fell out of a vehicle. No additional information about what led to the shooting was immediately available.
Pyle, Simon Guillen and Crystal Guillen were being held in Dallas County jail Monday morning. Jail records indicate they were booked earlier this month.

Attorneys for Pyle and Simon Guillen declined to comment. Crystal Guillen’s attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Police did not name the 15-year-old boy. In Texas, those under 17 accused of crimes are tried in juvenile court. Those 14 and older can be tried as an adult if a juvenile court judge agrees after a hearing.
