Arlington police seek help identifying man suspected in sexual assault of a child

Police said a customer and employees of a business intervened in the situation causing the middle-aged man to leave.

Arlington police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man suspected in the aggravated sexual assault of a child.

Officers responded Saturday at 8:25 p.m. to a business in the 5900 block of S. Cooper Street following a 911 call placed by employees. Police said a teenage customer “made an outcry” to employees that the victim was in trouble.

Employees intervened immediately, police said, causing the man to be “scared off.”

The man, described as approximately 50-years old, left the business in a dark-colored late model Cadillac SUV with no license plates. Police said the vehicle is possibly a Cadillac XT4 or a XT5.

The department has not further details about the business or the victim due to their age and the nature of the case.

“The department would like to thank and recognize the employees of the business, as well as a Good Samaritan customer for helping the victim,” police said in a press release.

Anyone with information about this case should call the department’s crimes against children unit at (817) 575-3200. Anonymous tips can be made to Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817-469-8477.
