Suspect in 10 Dallas sexual assaults arrested — after posting bail for previous assault

Police arrested Christopher Michael Green, 50, again Tuesday on a sexual assault charge after he posted bail Sunday for a different alleged sexual crime.

A Dallas man police have linked to nearly a dozen previously unsolved sexual assaults was arrested Tuesday — just two days after he posted bail for a different alleged sexual crime.

Officers arrested Christopher Michael Green of Dallas on Saturday in connection with an aggravated sexual assault offense from July 2005, Dallas police said. Green, 50, was booked in the Dallas County Jail, with his bail set at $25,000. He posted bail and was released the following day.

An arrest-warrant affidavit said Green attacked a woman at a bus stop at the 300 block of North Ewing Avenue, near East 8th Street, about 6 a.m. In an interview with police, the woman said he dragged her to a field behind the bus stop and “threw her around like a doll,” an affidavit said.

The woman attempted to get away, but Green pulled out a knife then slashed and stabbed her in the back, according to an affidavit. He also grabbed her by the hair and slammed her head onto the ground.

Green held a knife to her throat, and the woman believed she was going to die, an affidavit said. He forced her to perform a sexual act.

The woman told police she was able to escape and flagged down a motorist who helped her, an affidavit said. She was transported to Parkland Hospital for medical attention and completed an exam, which is how Dallas police was able to obtain evidence.

With the help of the FBI, police identified Green through DNA. The woman also went to Dallas police headquarters and identified Green in a photo lineup.

After he posted bail Sunday, authorities arrested him again Tuesday in connection with a sexual assault offense stemming from November 2009.

An arrest-warrant affidavit in that offense said Green approached a different woman at the 2400 block of Second Avenue, near State Highway 352, a little after 1 a.m. Green was driving his car and asked the woman if she wanted a ride.

The woman told police she was walking back from a store after it was closed for the night.

She accepted after Green told her he would take her to a store. He instead drove through different streets until he stopped at an apartment complex in the 4300 block of Malcolm X Boulevard, an affidavit said.

Green then rolled up the windows and locked the doors, trapping the woman in the vehicle. The woman said he threatened to shoot her if she didn’t follow his directions.

Green forced her to perform sexual acts then drove to a nearby convenience store. He told the woman he would wait for her outside of the store.

Once she went inside, she asked the clerk to call 911 for her. Green fled the area before police arrived, an affidavit said. The woman in this offense also went to Parkland Hospital and completed an exam.

Police said further investigation led to Green’s arrest in connection with the assault from 2009. In an affidavit, police say the woman came to Dallas police headquarters and “became overwhelmed with emotion” as she identified Green in a photo lineup.

According to an affidavit, police believe Green committed multiple sexual assault offenses from 1999 to 2012. Five offenses are linked to Green through DNA evidence while others match his physical description and M.O., police say in an affidavit.

In Dallas alone, police suspect he has committed approximately 10 sexual assault offenses.

Green remained in Dallas County Jail as of Wednesday evening. His attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Council member Cara Mendelsohn, who is the vice chair of the public safety committee, questioned the bail amount for Green and the lack of an ankle monitor after his first arrest.

She said police officers are asked to do a lot and there needs to be cooperation on the judicial side. For people arrested on violent crime charges, Mendelsohn said it’s very difficult to track the disposition of cases and how many people are reoffending in Dallas.

“It’s hard to have that accountability,” she said.

Green faces two counts of aggravated sexual assault and his bail is set at $500,000.
