Man wanted in fatal Fort Worth hit-and-run arrested in El Paso, police say

Fort Worth police have said the man was avoiding apprehension in a crash that left a woman and an unborn child dead.

A man wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash last year was arrested by federal authorities on Tuesday, Fort Worth police say.

Victor Manuel Medina-Ramirez, 28, was taken into custody in El Paso by U.S. Customs and Border Protection, police said.

After a September crash, which police said killed a passenger and the unborn child of a driver, authorities released images of Medina-Ramirez and said he was believed to be “avoiding apprehension for his involvement.”

Police said Medina-Ramirez will face charges in connection with the crash, but did not say what charges he faces or release any additional details Thursday. It is unclear if he has an attorney.

Shortly before 12:30 a.m. Sept. 24, officers were dispatched to a major crash in the intersection of State Highway 121 and North Sylvania Avenue, police said after the crash.

Investigators believed a motorist collided with a second vehicle carrying multiple passengers before leaving the area on foot, according to police.

One of the passengers in the second vehicle was pronounced dead at the location, police said. She was identified by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office as 30-year-old Meagan Roiter.

In a post to X, formerly known as Twitter, the Fort Worth Police Department announced the unborn child of the vehicle’s driver also died. Two people were hospitalized with injuries that authorities said were not life-threatening.

Police in October released images of Medina-Ramirez and said they were looking for him, with investigators believing he was “avoiding apprehension for his involvement” in the crash.
