Woman arrested by Fort Worth police allegedly stole vehicle with corpse in it

It is unclear if the woman intended to steal the corpse

A woman stole a morgue transport vehicle with a body inside it from a hospital parking lot, Fort Worth police said.

About 7 p.m. Monday, police responded to a stolen vehicle at Peter John Smith Hospital. Police learned the vehicle had been brought to the hospital by a mortuary employee to collect a deceased person.

While the driver was inside the hospital, a woman, identified in jail records as Valerie Traglor-Ellis, stole the vehicle and drove away. It is unclear if Traglor-Ellis was aware the vehicle already contained another dead body.

The stolen vehicle and body were recovered, undamaged, in the 2600 block of Park Place Avenue, near the Fort Worth Zoo. Traglor-Ellis was found a short time later and arrested, according to police.
