Man faces DWI, collision charges after pedestrian killed in northwest Dallas, police say

The suspect called 911 to report the crash early Saturday morning, police said.

A 31-year-old man faces charges in connection with the death of a pedestrian Saturday morning in northwest Dallas, police said.

Officers were dispatched about 12:30 a.m. to the 2500 block of West Northwest Highway, where a preliminary investigation determined a motorist traveling north on Storey Lane hit a pedestrian then fled the scene, police said in a news release Sunday.

Juan Morgan Munoz was arrested and booked into the Dallas County jail. He faces felony charges of collision involving death and driving while intoxicated (third or more), as well as a hold out of Tarrant County for a driving while intoxicated count, online jail records show.

Dallas Fire-Rescue pronounced the pedestrian, whom police didn’t identify, dead at the scene, according to the release. The Dallas County medical examiner’s office will release the person’s identity, police said.

Morgan Munoz, who police said called in the crash, remained in jail Monday night in lieu of $135,000 bail, according to jail records. It wasn’t immediately clear whether he had an attorney.
