Sansom Park police said Saturday they have detained a juvenile suspect in a fatal shooting that occurred last week.
The shooting took place early June 21, in the 3100 block of Skyline Drive, near Buchanan Street. Richard Applegate, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said at the time they were seeking two suspects who fled shortly after the shooting.
Sansom Park police said Saturday the department obtained an arrest warrant and was able to take a suspect into custody within 30 minutes. Because the suspect is a juvenile, their identity was not released. Police did not say if they were still seeking a second suspect.
The arrest came after police asked residents who live nearby to check their security cameras for any footage of people walking between 4:30 and 7 a.m. On Wednesday, police released screenshots showing what police described as the suspects.
