16-year-old shot during road rage incident in Haltom City, police say; suspect at large

The shooting occurred Sunday morning.

A 16-year-old was hospitalized early Sunday after an apparent road rage shooting in Haltom City.

Police say the shooting occurred between 4:15 and 4:45 a.m. in the 4400 block of East Belknap Street when two vehicles were traveling northeast from Bernice Street and passed through the traffic light at Layton Avenue, according to a news release.

A passenger in the suspect vehicle — only described as a sedan carrying four Hispanic males — shot at the other vehicle and struck the teenager, police said.

Investigators believed the incident was isolated and that the victim and shooter do not know each other, according to the release.
