Woman arrested on arson charges in connection with deadly weekend trailer park fire

Mirsa Lopez admitted to starting the fire, according to police.

A woman has admitted to starting a trailer park fire over the weekend that killed one man and three dogs, records show.

Firefighters responded to a structure fire about 6:30 a.m. Saturday in the 2600 block of Lombardy Lane in northwest Dallas. Jason Evans, Dallas Fire-Rescue spokesperson, said it took firefighters two hours to extinguish the blaze.

Mirsa Lopez, 38, was detained at the scene, according to her arrest warrant. Lopez told investigators she had been in a relationship with the man whose trailer burned first and she started the fire with a lighter and a plastic bag after he would not let her inside, the warrant says.

A witness at the scene also told investigators he had seen Lopez sitting in a chair outside the first trailer where flames were initially seen, according to the warrant. Lopez reportedly told the witness she set the fire because the man would not let her inside to use the bathroom.
