Ex-Frisco officer accused of embezzling funds from police association

Colby Hill, Frisco police sergeant, faces felony theft charge, officials said.

A former Frisco police officer is facing charges of theft after police said he embezzled funds from the city’s police association.

Colby Hill, a Frisco police sergeant with more than 12 years experience with the department, submitted his resignation Aug. 7, a Frisco police news release said. At that time, police learned Hill had been stealing funds from the Frisco Police Officers Association. The release said Hill served as the treasurer for the organization.

The release said the department began an internal investigation and requested the Texas Rangers conduct its own investigation into the theft allegations. Following the investigation, police obtained an arrest warrant for Hill, and he turned himself in to the Collin County Sheriff’s Office detention facility on Oct. 3, the release said.

The organization engages in fellowship, charitable activities and political engagement and is funded by member dues, donations and fundraising, the release said.
