Police investigation determined no shooting occurred near Lewisville elementary schools

The incident was ‘contained’ to the location a block away from one of the campuses.

Two Lewisville elementary schools kept students inside their buildings Wednesday morning after a nearby incident prompted a large police response.

Police initially said officers were investigating a shooting in the 500 block of South Mill Street that was “contained” to the location, Lewisville police said in a news release about 8:40 a.m.

Later in the morning, police said they arrived to find a man with “significant head trauma,” but once he was taken to the hospital it was determined his injury was likely related to falling from a balcony, according to an updated release.

A heavy police presence remained in the area while officers investigated.

The nearby schools, Central Elementary and Mill Street Elementary, kept students inside out of an “abundance of caution” but were otherwise operating as normal, a Lewisville ISD spokesperson said.
