A suspect in the fatal shooting of a teenager Tuesday in Fort Worth was detained by police but it wasn’t clear whether the person would face criminal charges.
Officers responded at about 9:10 p.m. to a shooting call at a home in the 3500 block of Avenue L, near East 35th Street, and found a victim who had been shot in his upper body.
The victim was identified as 16-year-old Damariion Henton, according to Tarrant County medical examiner records. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives believe the suspect was handling a handgun when it discharged and struck Damariion, according to police.
“The suspect has been identified and is being interviewed by detectives,” police said Wednesday morning. “No arrests have been made at this time.”
This investigation is ongoing.
