Allen ISD foundation awards $125K in grants for classroom, campus projects

The foundation has awarded $1.4 million to date to fund educational projects in Allen schools.

The Foundation For Allen Schools has awarded $125,000 in educational grants for 136 different initiatives in Allen schools.

“We are very excited to again fund such a large number of grants,” foundation director Regina Taylor said in a statement. “Nearly 200 of our teachers and staff will be involved next year; these grants will have an impact on every curriculum area and in classrooms from Pre-K to 12th grade.”

The Foundation’s Educational Grant Program provides resources for innovative, creative classroom and campus programs and projects.

Grants in the past have funded science education, vegetable gardens, classroom trips to universities, among dozens of other projects. This year, grants will fund robotics projects, art courses, math lessons and more.

In total, the foundation has awarded $1.4 million dollars to date.

Foundation board members and Allen ISD Learner Services coordinators reviewed the grant applications and chose the ones awarded. Teachers and staff submitted 200 applications and 68% were awarded funding.
