Allen ISD families can switch between in-person and virtual learning for the year’s last grading period

Starting next week, students and their families can decide whether to change how they’re learning.

Allen ISD families and students who want to change their preferred learning setting for the last grading period of the 2020-21 school year can do so beginning Monday.

Parents must submit the change online in the student’s portal by 11:59 p.m. on Feb. 21. Changes will go into effect March 15 and continue through the last day of school, May 21, according to the district website.

Families were required to select the preferred learning setting for the current grading period in late July but have been able to switch after every grading period.

Nearly 50% selected online, while around 46% selected in-person at the beginning of the school year. Four percent did not select an option, and those families were automatically placed in in-person learning. Less than 1% of students selected an option outside of the district or moved.
