Dallas County voters’ last day to apply for mail-in ballots is Friday

The last day to submit mail ballot applications is Oct. 25 by 5 p.m.

Dallas County voters looking to vote by mail in the Nov. 5 election must submit their applications by Oct. 25.

Applications must be received before the close of business, or by 5 p.m., to be considered, according to the Dallas County elections website.

To qualify for a mail ballot, the voter would need to meet one of the following criteria:

  • be 65 years or older
  • be sick or disabled
  • be out of the county on election day and during the period for early voting by personal appearance
  • be expected to give birth within three weeks before or after Election Day
  • be confined in jail, but otherwise eligible

How do I submit my mail ballot application?

Here are four ways to submit a mail ballot application:

  • In-person: the applicant can deliver their application with photo identification to the Dallas County Elections Department
  • By mail: the application can be sent to:

  • By fax: Applicants can fax their application to 214-819-6303. However, a hard copy of the original application must be submitted by mail and received by the elections department no later than the fourth business day after the fax was received, according to the website.
  • By e-mail: a scanned application with the voter’s original signature can be emailed to evapplications@dallascounty.org. A hard copy of the original application must also be submitted by mail and be received by the elections department no later than the fourth business day after the e-mail was received.

The elections department is encouraging applicants to include both their identification number and the last four digits of their Social Security Number when submitting a mail ballot application.

Mail ballots have to be returned by 7 p.m. on Nov. 5, or postmarked by then, to be considered, according to the elections department.
