Company says machines ‘do not flip votes’ after viral Tarrant County video

After man says a Tarrant County voting machine changed his vote for president, the company behind the machines denied the allegation.

The company behind Tarrant County’s voting machines has refuted an allegation that the company’s machines changed a man’s vote for president after being printed.

Hart InterCivic, the company behind the machines, said in an emailed statement obtained by The Fort Worth Star-Telegram that the company’s machines are among the most secure in the nation and do not flip votes. The company also said the machines were certified at the federal and state level and were successfully tested locally prior to the election.

“Hart InterCivic is aware of an isolated claim concerning vote-flipping in Tarrant County, Texas. Hart takes any allegations that our devices are not operating properly extremely seriously. We are already in contact with County officials and will provide any support necessary to ascertain the origin of this reported issue,” the statement said.

Hart InterCivic also said voters get multiple opportunities to verify their vote selection during the voting process.

The Dallas Morning News emailed Hart InterCivic on Saturday evening requesting a statement but did not immediately receive a reply.

The statement came several days after a viral video showed a man who said while voting in White Settlement, his vote changed candidates after printing it out. Voters in Tarrant County make their selections on a machine, which then prints out a paper ballot to review and submit.

“I voted for one president, checked it on the video screen. When I got the paper ballot, it had the other candidate’s name on it,” the man says in the video. “Check your paper ballots, everybody.”

Bo French, Tarrant County Republican Party chair, posted the video to X and said that former president Donald Trump was aware of the incident. County officials later said the incorrect ballot appeared to be a simple mistake.

In a video posted to X, Tarrant County Elections Administrator Clint Ludwig said officials believe the man accidentally selected the wrong candidate for president before noticing the error on the paper ballot. Officials said the man notified a poll worker of the incorrect ballot, and the ballot was then voided and the man cast another vote.

Officials recommended voters double-check their ballots before submitting them. A Tarrant County spokesperson told The News that no other incorrect ballots were reported.
