Celebrate Earth Day outdoors.

Nature lovers in Mesquite have dozens of parks and trails to choose from. With more than 70 parks, residents can hike, ride bikes or fish in stocked ponds.

We have compiled a list of some parks and trails around the city to celebrate Earth Day and beyond.

Trails and parks

Butterfly Trail is located in Paschall Park. The trail nurtures wildflowers that attract a diverse population of insects and birds. 1001 New Market Road.

City Lake Park has 20 acres of green space with picnic areas and a baseball field. In the center of the park, City Lake holds catfish and trout as part of the Texas Parks & Wildlife Neighborhood Fishin’ program. 200 Parkview St.

DeBusk Park has a playground and outdoor grills, making the park an easy picnic destination. DeBusk Trail, which is over a mile, winds around the park. 1625 Gross Road.

Catfish Corner has been a mainstay for fishing enthusiasts in Mesquite for two decades. The catfish farm is always stocked and has six spring-fed ponds to choose from. 1702 Lawson Road.

The Mesquite Heritage Trail opened in 2015 and is the city’s largest recreational facility. It has more than 4 miles of trails and sidewalks. The space also has a pedestrian bridge and an exercise station. The trail starts at the intersection of Town Centre Drive and Franklin Drive.
