New fitness center to open in former retail space in Arlington

Crunch Arlington will offer cardio and strength equipment, massage chairs, tanning beds and infrared wellness pods.

National gym chain Crunch Fitness will expand to Arlington this year.

Crunch Arlington plans to open a 40,000-square foot facility with cardio and strength training equipment, an indoor turf area and cycling studios, the New York City-based company announced Monday.

Crunch is expected to open in December of this year at 5906 South Cooper, the site of a former Stein Mart, according to a company press release.

Additional amenities will include a HIITZone for high-intensity interval group training, massage chairs, tanning beds, infrared wellness pods and a kids’ area with a movie theater. The gym offers group yoga, Pilates, TRX (Total Resistance Exercises), Tai Box and Zumba classes.

“We offer something for everyone, whether you are a first-time gym user, a fitness enthusiast, or a serious athlete,” Crunch partner Michael Krassner said in the press release.

Crunch says it “believes in making serious exercise fun by fusing fitness and entertainment.”

Memberships start at $10 per month.

Crunch operates roughly 400 gyms worldwide, including one in Addison. A third North Texas center is planned for Frisco.
