DeSoto Chamber of Commerce hosting info session for down-payment assistance program

Residents can qualify to receive up to $10,000 to help with closing costs.

Buying a home can be a process full of twists and turns and the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce is looking to help.

The chamber will host an informational session where residents and potential homebuyers can learn about a new program where they can apply for up to $10,000 aimed at closing costs or a down payment on a new home, the chamber said via the city’s website.

In order to qualify, the following requirements must be met:

  • Must currently live in the city of DeSoto
  • First time homebuyer or not owned a home in the last three years
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen, Citizen National or proof of legal residency
  • Must complete eight hours of Homebuyer Education training through a HUD-approved agency
  • Must have submitted an offer on, or signed the Sales Contract on a potential property in DeSoto
  • Annual gross income must be at or below the 80% income limits established by HUD for Dallas County

The meeting will be from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 28 at the DeSoto Chamber of Commerce, 2021 N. Hampton Road.
