Calling the president who ousted his dad a “dolt” whose aides reward him with ice cream when he doesn’t fumble his lines, Donald Trump Jr. whipped activists into an anti-Joe Biden frenzy on Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Dallas.
He trolled Biden’s son Hunter Biden, an admitted cocaine addict, as a “total piece of garbage.”
And he gloated at the downfall of Michael Avenatti, the lawyer who tormented Donald Trump over a sexual liaison with porn star Stormy Daniels.
“Has Joe Biden done anything that didn’t involve an ice cream parlor?” the ex-president’s son asked a half-filled ballroom at the Hilton Anatole. “It’s like my toddler. If you get the line right, you get a scoop of ice cream.”
Such mockery and red meat is typical both for Trump Jr. and CPAC, which Donald Trump himself will headline Sunday afternoon.
“Do you ever think that Vlad is thrilled to be negotiating against a dolt?” Trump Jr. said at one point, referring to Biden’s recent summit with Russian strongman Vladimir Putin.
Listing some of the problems unleashed since Biden took office, Trump Jr. pivoted to Avenatti, whose adult film star client received $130,000 in hush money two weeks before the 2016 election from Donald Trump’s lawyer and confidant at the time, Michael Cohen.
“Despite what we see going on on a daily basis, there is a silver lining. Michael Avenatti is going to prison,” Trump Jr. said.
Avenatti was sentenced this week to 2-1/2 years for scheming to extort millions from sportswear maker Nike, by threatening to expose illicit payments to amateur basketball players.
Trump Jr. glossed over his dad’s affair with Daniels, and his family’s own legal entanglements. Last week, the Trump Organization’s longtime chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg was hit with more than a dozen criminal charges.
While his own dad was right about “everything,” Trump Jr. said, Biden has set out a welcome mat for illegal migration.
“We’re going to give you free health care, free education. You can take American jobs,” he said.
And he accused Biden of both antagonism toward the Second Amendment and utter ignorance about guns. “I love my AR-14,” he joked, purposely offering a misnomer for the popular AR-15.
Trump Jr. fumed that the news media has treated Hunter Biden with kid gloves compared with the scrutiny he and his siblings endured when their father was in the White House.
“What do you think the media reaction would be to Don Jr. smoking parmesan cheese?” he said, alluding to Hunter Biden’s admission in a recent memoir that during one drug bender he smoked bits of cheese, thinking it was crack.
“Addiction is terrible. We all know people that have suffered by it,” Trump Jr. said. “It doesn’t absolve you from being a total piece of garbage in every other aspect of your life. It doesn’t absolve you from selling access to the highest levels of government. It doesn’t absolve you from selling out your country. It doesn’t absolve you from child support for the stripper you knocked off a couple years ago. Am I right?”
The CPAC crowd cheered.
He also punched at Dr. Anthony Fauci, the infectious disease expert who continues to lead the country through the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Fauci is better at pitching baseballs than he is at science,” he asserted. “I want to see them fact check that.”
His girlfriend, Kimberly Guilfoyle, warmed up the crowd for him.
“The media is trying to write the obituary believe it or not of our conservative movement, and then along comes CPAC,” she said, adding that with “Joe Bummer Biden” in the White House, conservatives are keen to regain power.
“We will not stand by with our nation on fire and see it burn. … No president has stood more for the conservative values and America First Policies that we cherish,” she said. “We don’t kowtow to the demands of the leftist mob that wants to silence and cancel us.”
Trump recalled his dad’s rally last Saturday in Sarasota, Fla., where in his retelling, 45,000 supporters waited eight hours in 98 degree heat and three hours after a torrential downpour.
“This is a movement,” he said. “These guys get it. They understand what’s happening. .. They’re sick of watching their country get taken away.”
