PolitiFact is live fact-checking the first 2024 vice presidential debate Oct. 1 in New York City between Republican Sen. JD Vance and Democrat Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

CBS News is hosting the debate, which will air at 8 p.m. CT and be available to stream online. “CBS Evening News” anchor Norah O’Donnell and “Face the Nation” moderator Margaret Brennan will moderate the debate.
