Updated at 8:50 a.m. Tuesday: Revised to include a sixth case in Tarrant County.
Dallas County reported five more cases of the new coronavirus Monday, bringing its total to 19.
Meanwhile, a Grand Prairie resident is Tarrant County’s sixth confirmed case, officials reported Tuesday morning.
Four of the five patients in Dallas County are men — one in his 40s, one in his 50s, one in his 60s, and one in his 70s. The other patient is a woman in her 50s.
None of the five patients with COVID-19 are hospitalized. All are self-isolating in their homes, according to a news release from the county.
Authorities said four of the cases are related to out-of-state travel, and the other is likely to be community spread.
Three patients live in Dallas, one lives in Farmers Branch and one is from out of state.
“Significantly, there’s another likely case of community spread among the five cases we are reporting today,” Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins said in a written statement.
Jenkins said he is working with mayors in Dallas County, the state and federal partners. He said additional safety measures will be announced soon.
Gatherings of 500 people or more are currently prohibited in Dallas County, and gatherings of 250 or more are discouraged.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced on Sunday that it is recommending the cancellation or postponement of all events with 50 people or more for the next eight weeks.
Many states and cities have begun ordering restaurants and bars to close for dining in, but, in some cases have permitted them to remain open for delivery.
Brookhaven Country Club
Brookhaven Country Club on Monday notified its members via email that two of its members tested positive for the coronavirus. It is unclear whether the couple is among the 19 cases reported in Dallas County.
The members last visited the club on March 7 and March 8. While at the club, the two members entered the tennis center, including an outdoor-court and an indoor-court. The members did not enter the main clubhouse or the fitness area, the club said in the email.
The club’s tennis center has been cleaned repeatedly since the members were there, and it will be open for normal business hours on Tuesday.
Sixth case in Tarrant County
Tarrant County reported a sixth case on Tuesday. Officials indicated the patient has no known travel histories or links to previous cases, which makes it likely that it was community-spread.
The patient is in isolation at home, Tarrant County Public Health Director Vinny Taneja said.
Tarrant County’s fifth patient contracted the virus while traveling out of the state and developed symptoms upon returning home, according to the county.
No details were provided about the patient’s sex or age.
So far in Tarrant County, there has been one reported case in Arlington, on in Grand Prairie, one in Benbrook, two in Southlake and one in White Settlement.
