COVID-19 cases slow in Arlington, but city reports 26 deaths over past two weeks

New cases of COVID-19 in Arlington are slowing as the omicron variant wanes.

Arlington has totaled 617 new cases of COVID-19 in the past two weeks, according to the Tarrant County Public Health Department.

As of Feb. 23, 38 people in Arlington were hospitalized with the virus, according to the city’s dashboard.

Arlington has recorded a total of 90,710 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Tarrant County Public Health Department.

However, Arlington reported 26 new COVID-19-related deaths in the past two weeks, bringing the total number of deaths to 1,086.

The Department of State Health Services has posted information about when and where Texas residents can get a vaccine.

Education

This week, nine staff and 12 students tested positive for COVID-19, according to the district’s dashboard.

So far this school year, 7,866 students and 2,380 staff members have tested positive.

Masks are optional this year.

The district has established a student counseling services hotline. Students can call 682-867-9416 to be connected with school counselors to discuss stress, anxiety or other issues. It is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Parents can call 682-867-9417 to talk with district staff members who can help find resources such as food, clothing, shelter and transportation.

The University of Texas at Arlington reported 1,540 total positive coronavirus cases since March 2020.
