County Judge Clay Jenkins said in a written statement that the virus is spreading rapidly through the area.

“We will get through this together Dallas by ensuring that faith in science wins over the fear of the unknown, that prayer replaces panic, and sacrifice for the good of the community replaces our selfish desires,” he said.

Jenkins said doctors strongly discourage people from dining in restaurants or visiting places such as bowling alleys, arcades, amusement parks, concert venues, sporting arenas, movie theaters, gyms and public pools.

He also said people should always have a mask on hand while in public.

“Please wear your mask whenever around people outside your family and please take a face covering with you … as you may find yourself bumping into other people or unexpectedly around others,” he said.
