Arlington park closes after 2 children reportedly bit by same coyote

Additional traps were placed at the park to try and capture the animal.

Arlington officials closed a city park through at least Wednesday after two children reported being bit by a coyote.

The first bite occurred Saturday at Parkway Central Park on Van Buren Drive near Lamar Boulevard and Cooper Street.

The city’s animal services set a trap and patrolled the park but did not capture the coyote.

Officials closed the park Tuesday evening after learning a second child was bit by, what they believe, is the same coyote.

Animal services and police responded to the park to tranquilize and trap the coyote but could not find the animal.

Additional traps were set at the park Tuesday evening, and officers were scheduled to continue patrols.

City officials said that the park will remain closed Wednesday but updates will be posted on social media.
