The No. 10-ranked food eater in the U.S. has been eating his way through Texas recently including stops in Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano and Frisco.
James Webb — also known by his social media username J Webby Can Eat — is from Sydney, Australia. He broke his first world record earlier this month eating 59 and a half glazed donuts in 8 minutes.
Most of his Lone Star State eating adventures were meat-focused, though, which isn’t too surprising.
According to his social media accounts, Webb participated in at least 10 food challenges in Texas in about a week. He finished most of them with time to spare but failed one in Fort Worth and another in Point Blank.
The 34-year-old started at the Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo, completing the famous 72-ounce Steak Challenge by eating a 72-ounce sirloin steak, baked potato, roll, salad and three fried shrimp in 6 minutes and 28 seconds. That feat made him the second-fastest person to eat it in challenge history. Molly Schuyler finished in 4 minutes and 18 seconds.
Making his way south, Webb stopped at Bebo’s Cafe in Aubrey for the Bozilla Burger challenge, finishing a 5-pound burger and a pound of fries in 16 minutes and 24 seconds.
After he finished, the owner hopped on stage with him cheering.
“Our very first one, y’all,” she said before turning to Webb and asking, “you need a piece of pie?”
“Yes, that would be amazing,” he said then proceeded to eat an entire slice of coconut pie.
Sky Rocket Burger, which has multiple North Texas locations, posted Webb taking on the “6 in 6” in Frisco. He managed to stomach a six-patty burger with cheese, lettuce and tomato, loaded fries and a milkshake in 3 minutes and 56 seconds.
Nearby, Webb ate two hoagies totaling 6 pounds of cheesesteak and a side of fries at Fred’s Downtown Philly in Plano. He finished the meal in 13 minutes and 33 seconds.
When Webb made it to D-FW, he was spotted using a big spoon to shovel a 5-pound bowl of loaded tater tots into his mouth at Rogers Roundhouse in Fort Worth. He ate the dish in 4 minutes, 43 seconds.
He also stopped by the Ol’ South Pancake House in Fort Worth to eat an 8-pound stack of pancakes but wasn’t able to finish them, giving up about 40 minutes in. JustThree people had ever finished the challenge, he said in the live stream video.
Although it’s not an established challenge, Webb did make a stop in Dallas at the Furlough Brothers’ ghost kitchen on Commerce Street. He gobbled down five sandwiches and 2 pounds of fries in roughly 13 minutes.
In other parts of Texas, Webb managed to eat:
- Three 9-inch sandwiches in 6 minutes, 9 seconds at Fat Shack in College Station
- A 10-pound sundae with 20 scoops of ice cream in the flavors of his choosing, a can of whipped cream, hot fudge, caramel, cookies, candies, waffle chips and cherries in 48 minutes, 40 seconds at Waffle Cone Cove in Copperas Cove
- Four chicken fried steaks, two sides of mac and cheese, fries and toast in 4 minutes, 31 seconds at the Wolf Den Family Restaurant in Gainesville
- Webb failed to complete“The Buckshot Slamma” at Buckshot’s Icehouse in Point Blank. He had an hour to finish more than 10 pounds of food that included a dozen bacon-wrapped stuffed jalapeños, onion rings, brisket-loaded fries and a very tall cheeseburger. He gave up about 47 minutes into the challenge.
