Collision between car, 18-wheeler spills fuel in Richardson

The driver of the car was treated at the scene and the rig's driver was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, officials said.

Rush-hour traffic was tied up in Richardson hours after an 18-wheeler collided with a car and spilled fuel Tuesday night.

The crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. in the 4400 block of East Renner Road near MacKenzie Lane, Richardson fire officials said.

The driver of the car was treated at the scene, and the truck driver was hospitalized with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, officials said.

The truck carried 8,500 gallons of fuel, some of which spilled onto the road, fire officials said. Cleanup took several hours, and the site wasn't cleared until around 7:30 a.m.
