Glenmore and Shepherd streets, from Sixth Street to Irving Boulevard

Motorists should expect periodic lane closures on Glenmore and Shepherd streets, from Sixth Street to Irving Boulevard, for utility improvements and street paving. The project will begin July 27 and run through May 2021. Only one street — either Glenmore or Shepherd — will be reduced to one-way traffic at a time. Traffic along eastbound E. Irving Boulevard also will be affected.

The project will rebuild both of the existing barrow ditch roads, Glenmore and Shepherd streets, and improve them to 31-foot wide standard roadway sections. Sidewalks on both sides of roadways and barrier-free ramps will be added.

MacArthur Boulevard, from Rochelle Road to Richard Huff Way

Beginning July 20, various northbound lanes of MacArthur Boulevard, between Rochelle Road to Richard Huff Way, will be closed 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, Monday through Friday, for utility crews to locate underground utilities. At least one northbound lane will be open at all times. Barricades will be removed at night. The project is expected to be completed by July 31, weather permitting. Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays and seek alternate routes when possible.

Hidden Ridge DART Station construction: Irving residents and Orange Line passengers can expect construction activity between the North Lake College and Irving Convention Center stations, as DART’s new Hidden Ridge station begins to take shape. The station will tie-in with the city’s nearby $1 billion project, which will be a 110-acre mixed use development for Verizon Communications Inc. that includes retail, restaurants, apartments, a hotel and additional office space.

Work will begin with a preliminary excavation on Meadow Creek Drive near Green Park Drive. Possible lane closures and minor interruptions of Orange Line operation are anticipated. Weather permitting, work will be performed weekdays between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., with occasional weekend activity if needed.
